Located in the heart of Studio City, UOVO is a charming Italian restaurant that redefines the art of traditional Italian dining with a modern, intimate atmosphere. From the moment you step inside this cozy space tucked away at 12833 Ventura Blvd, you're greeted with an ambiance that feels like a stylish New York kitchen-bar hybrid—warm, slightly dim, and buzzing with the lively energy of an open kitchen. This makes every visit not just a meal, but a memorable sensory experience.
UOVO’s menu showcases classic Italian flavors elevated by fresh, high-quality ingredients and meticulous craftsmanship. Highlight dishes such as the zesty Yellowtail Crudo elegantly balance the freshness of raw fish with bursts of pomodorini and basil, creating a delightfully vibrant start. The Vongole clam dish offers a sublime oceanic depth paired with perfectly seasoned, velvety sauce that sings with every bite. Their artistically prepared Tortellini and rich, comforting Lasagna demonstrate a mastery of pasta textures—each bite melts effortlessly while packing layers of flavorful tradition.
On the vegetable front, roasted sides like the Cavolfiori drizzled with garlic and olive oil and the tender Broccolini accented with just the right touch of salt and garlic, offer bold, rustic notes that perfectly complement the main courses. Don’t miss their house specialty Tiramisu al Cucchiaio, a luscious, creamy finish that resonates with every forkful of coffee-soaked mascarpone—quite possibly the best tiramisu many have ever tasted.
What elevates UOVO further is its thoughtfully curated beverage list featuring Italian staples such as Peroni Lager and equally refreshing choices like Mexican Coke or sparkling Pellegrino. Whether you're sipping on a perfect bottle of wine or enjoying the crisp bubbles of a cider, the drinks complement the meal with harmonious balance.
Patrons repeatedly praise UOVO’s tasting menu as the ultimate way to explore their menu—a carefully orchestrated parade of flavors that includes starters, three distinct pasta dishes, and a decadent dessert, offering a comprehensive glimpse into authentic Italian comfort reimagined. I had never heard of this place, but my friend suggested we try it. I am going to cut to the chase. The food we had was so good. Just eat here. Let me say that again. The food was banging. We ended up doing the tasting menu and went with the classic option. The food was absolutely delicious. There was not a single miss in anything we tried. For once, I felt like there was enough food for both of us, though I could have easily eaten more. I am someone who can inhale pasta, and I would have loved larger portions. So if you are not sure what to order and you want pasta, I definitely recommend the tasting menu. It is only enough for two people, though, so keep that in mind. I wish the serving sizes were a little bigger, but I also have a big appetite, so take that with a grain of salt. I do not usually eat tiramisu, but theirs was really good. There is also an ice cream spot in the same plaza, so if you are not in the mood for tiramisu or other desserts, you can grab ice cream instead. I think there is an Erewhon nearby too. Now for the part that could be a hit or miss depending on your vibe and hunger level. They do not take reservations. It is first come, first served. I do not necessarily mind that, but my friend and I are always running late, and she could not be seated until I arrived. Another thing is that there was not much table seating available, so we had to sit at the bar. If you are someone who carries a large bag or just does not like bar seating, this might not be ideal unless you can snag a table. Even the tables themselves did not look that spacious. I will say the bar had hooks for handbags, which was nice, but if you have a big one, it will still be tricky. My friend and I had gifts for each other, and finding a place to put them was tough. Our knees kept hitting them, or we had to set them on the floor. Sitting at the bar also meant we were pretty cramped, so we kept bumping into the people next to us. I had to keep apologizing, but thankfully everyone around us was really nice about it. The space between people is just tight, so if you are taller or have a broader build and do not like close contact, you might want to wait for a table or mentally prepare for tight quarters. The lighting is another thing. It is very dark inside, to the point that people were pulling out their phones just to read the menu. You do not want to shine a bright light and interrupt someone’s dinner, but it was definitely hard to see. If you are going on a first date, I actually think it is a great spot, especially if you are not feeling your most confident that day because the lighting is forgiving. But if you are going on a date with someone you already know or just meeting up with friends, be aware that it is dark and loud inside. We went on a Friday, and the volume level was high. My friend and I had to lean in really close just to hear each other. Now for the positives. The food was incredible. The staff was super friendly. The vibe and aesthetic were great. The only drawbacks were the seating, lighting, and noise level, which affect the overall dining experience. Even with those small issues, I would absolutely go back again. Honestly, I might just order to-go next time because the food was really, really good.
Best pasta tasting menu hands down. This is my go-to spot for pasta, and the tasting menu is the way to do it. Every dish is made fresh, and you can taste the difference immediately. The pastas are perfectly cooked, the sauces are rich but balanced, and each course feels intentional. The highlights for me were the cacio e pepe, carbonara, and pomodoro. They were simple, classic, and executed flawlessly. Sitting at the bar and watching the chefs prepare everything right in front of you makes the experience even better and more personal. If you love real Italian pasta and want an elevated but comfortable dining experience, UOVO - Studio City never disappoints. I’ll keep coming back.
Delicious handmade pasta with excellent sauce options. Friendly service. Be prepared to wait for a table but once you are seated, food comes out pretty quickly. I’ve been there a couple of times when visiting my sister in LA-it’s fun to sit at the bar and watch them cook. Some reviewers have commented on “small portions”but I would say reasonable portions of high quality food.
Hands down my favorite place for Italian food!!! Without mentioning that their tiramisu is the best tiramisu of my life!!!! Highly recommended the tasting menu, includes a starter, 3 different pasta flavors and dessert. The place is a bit small and dark but it gives me vibes of NYC kitchen/bar, which is cool.
We had an out of town guest who loved pasta so brought her to Uovo for the food and ambiance. All the pasta dishes were excellent…and each with its own unique taste. Portions are “small” for US so definitely recommend at least one dish per person.
Husband and I came here today to celebrate our 4th year anniversary. Staff was very kind and attentive. I've never been a pasta fan but this restaurant exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend.
I happened upon UOVO on an early Sunday evening . The eatery was busy . I was solo and opted to sit at the bar where I could see the food prepared. Tate the young host was fantastic and attentive. He immediately found me a spot . The service is excellent ! Lovely Isabella was our server! The menu is fresh pasta overnighted from Italy. I chose cacio e pepe and carbonara. The place is convivial and homey like in Rome. I will return to try other pastas and wine .
The wait for Uovo can get quite long on the weekends, but we sat relatively quickly on a Thursday night. Upon check in, I bonded a bit with the kind host over the fact that our names were both Cody. He shared a couple of his favorite lines over the penguin movie “Surf’s Up” (also starring Cody) and called us back to sit in about 15 minutes. The bar’s not exactly the most comfortable place to sit. On this particular night, I was seated next to what seemed to be a little boy and his nanny who were causing me to feel a bit cramped as the little bugger left his bottle of Sprite right in front of me and neither of the two deemed it appropriate to move it 3 inches to the left. Unfortunately, bar seating takes up the majority of the restaurant, and if you’d like to sit at one of the 4 tables they have, it’s gonna be a significantly longer wait. The carbonara was delicious, made with pasta imported from Italy and traditional, authentic smoky bits of guanciale. The tiramisu is a must. It might be the best tiramisu I’ve ever had. Rich, creamy, and totally indulgent. In the moody, dim lighting of the restaurant, if I closed my eyes, I could disappear into the symphony of flavors and almost (but not completely) tune out the little brat seated next to me screaming CACIO E PEPE every time I said it. Speaking of which, the cacio e pepe was also very good. The noodles were a perfect al dente, and though the recipe was simple, the execution was well done. Though my night was not as peaceful as I would’ve liked, I still thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Unfortunately, this restaurant isn’t really built for guests to sit and savor. The bar seating, although trendy and modern, feels a bit industrial and claustrophobic, designed for people to come, eat quickly, and leave as opposed to dine. Regardless, the food is phenomenal.
